National Planning Consultative Summit

Lae International Hotel 20th to 22nd March 2018, Lae - Morobe Province

The National Planning Consultative Summit is an opportune time to gather and contribute meaningfully and constructively to how we plan to implement effectively PNG’s development aspirations within the key priority areas of the Alotau Accord II by growing the economy in the next five years.

This plan will secure our future through inclusive growth, hence the theme: Securing Our Future Through Inclusive Economic Growth.

The key agreed outcome strategies and resolutions will be captured directly into the all-important five-year development plan of the country, the Medium Term Development Plan (2018-2022) or MTDP III.

The MTDP III will be different from all previous national development plans because it will have direct input from some very hardworking people in the frontline of our economy and our communities, our champions for development.

The theme promotes the current direction of the O’Neill-Abel Government for all sectors, provinces, districts, wards, churches and civil society organizations, development partners etc. to align all development activity to the key focus areas of the Alotau Accord II which will be encompassed in the MTDP III.

Furthermore, the MTDP III accommodates the National Planning Framework where the elements of different plans and strategies like the Vision 2050, Development Strategic Plan 2010-2030, MTDP III and the five-year development plans of various sectors, provinces, districts, LLGs etc. are all aligned and operate in a cascading manner.

We are all seeking better performance in all sectors to grow our economy and overall socio-economic performance in line with Alotau Accord II.

We have a collective and moral obligation to our children and our grandchildren and our future generations to build a better and prosperous future for them and achieve our shared Vision 2050.
